DESCRIPTION:A food expo with cooking demo’s\, expert talks from Monash Uni\, hands-on activities\, children’s entertainment\, and an outdoor movie FREE!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nAn event that highlights and celebrates healthy foods and healthy eating practices with a focus on practical\, budget\, and family-friendly. \nBecome inspired and reconnect or strengthen the food networks in the neighbourhood. \nThis event is bought to you by Growing Cockatoo a VicHealth funded program run by Connecting Cockatoo Communities Inc. \nSaturday\, April 9th\, 3pm – 9pm\nActivities\n\nStalls with a focus on healthy eating\, nutrition\, and healthy eating practices.\nCooking demonstrations from local businesses\,\nTalks/presentations given by expert academics and practitioners from Monash University\, Department of Nutrition Dietetics & Food\, and other food networks in our community\nChat with sports and/or pediatric dietitians and local orchards or nurseries\nChildren’s entertainment\nRatatouille the movie screening\, evening entertainment starts at 6.30 pm\nFreebies and giveaways\nSuitable for all ages – focused on families with children\n\nWhat you need to know and do\nBook into the sessions you are interested in\, please don’t book if you are a maybe\, this will stop other people from attending\, we know free is attractive\, please be mindful of others. There will be space for walk-ups. As most of our presenters will have giveaways it is great for them to know how many beforehand. \nYou can come to as many sessions as you like. \nYour information will go into a database for future communications\, you can opt-out from all communications with the follow-up email. You won’t be sent spam or junk it will be only from companies and organisations attending the event who are interested in you and your family’s health\, food\, and the local economy. \nIf the weather is bad we will still screen the film – indoors\, in 2 sittings\, sitting A & B (COVID restrictions on numbers) and we will advise closer to the event if this is likely to happen. by email and on the Cockatoo website www.cockatootownship.com.au and on local Facebook groups. \nFilm Session\nThere are three seating areas\, all will have marked spaces for family groups to ensure social distancing is maintained. We have designated three areas to ensure that everyone gets a great view of the movie so please chose the area that suits your comfort and equipment. Seating will NOT be provided\, you must bring your own. \nThere is food available on-site and you can pre-order picnic packs to collect at the event or you can BYO. This is an alcohol-free and smoke-free event and this will be strictly monitored. Anyone consuming alcohol will be asked to leave. Smoking will be in designated areas only. No domestic animals allowed\, however assistance animals are welcome. \nCOVID Information\nWe will have a COVID safe plan in place according to the relevant Victorian Government settings at the time of the event. We ask that you follow the COVID safe directions on the day.
